The Indianapolis Colts signed running back James Williams and waived defensive end Dadi Nicolas, the team announced Tuesday.
With several injuries befalling the running back room, Williams has been brought in for some depth. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May but was waived on June 13.
Williams played collegiately at Washington State where he appeared in 39 career games (18 starts). He recorded 316 carries for 1,539 yards and 19 touchdowns while also recording 202 receptions for 1,437 yards and eight receiving touchdowns.
Williams joins a backfield that currently consists of Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Aca’Cedric Ware as the healthy bodies. Jonathan Williams (ribs) and Jordan Wilkins (foot) are week to week.
