The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Aca’Cedric Ware and placed wide receiver Steve Ishmael on the injured reserve list, the team announced Wednesday morning.
This is Ware’s second stint with the Colts since the beginning of training camp. He initially signed with the team on July 24 and wound up being waived when the team signed fellow running back Keith Ford.
With Mack likely to sit and the potential for Foreman to not see any work, the Colts needed some bodies for the running back room.
Ware will be joining a running back room comprised of Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, Jordan Wilkins and D’Onta Foreman.
Ishmael, a 2018 undrafted free agent out of Syracuse, suffered a knee injury during Monday’s practice. Head coach Frank Reich called it “more than a tweak” but wasn’t sure the timetable of recovery. After evaluation of the knee injury, the Colts decided to place Ishamel on the injured reserve list.
