The Indianapolis Colts signed QB Chad Kelly to the practice squad and released offensive tackle Tyree St. Louis from the practice squad, the team announced Thursday.
Following the conclusion of his two-game suspension this week, the Colts waived Kelly on Wednesday. He cleared waivers, which gave the Colts the opportunity to bring him back to the practice squad.
The third-year quarterback shined during the preseason but was suspended the first two games of the regular season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy during the 2018 campaign when he was with the Denver Broncos.
With Jacoby Brissett entrenched as the starter and Brian Hoyer as the backup, Kelly will get his work in on the practice squad while getting the chance to prove his off-field issues are behind him.
