Colts sign LS Luke Rhodes to contract extension

The Indianapolis Colts are locking up another big part of the special teams unit as long snapper Luke Rhodes is getting a contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

After the Colts gave punter Rigoberto Sanchez a four-year real last week, Rhodes will reportedly receive the same, per Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star.

With a four-year deal for Rhodes, this means the Colts will have their punter and long snapper under contract through the 2023 season.

Rhodes, who was initially a linebacker, converted to be the team’s long snapper before the 2017 season. He’s excelled in the role since making the switch and has given the Colts no reason to think about bringing in anyone else in to compete.

Rhodes now joins the aforementioned Sanchez as the players with the longest contracts given out by Chris Ballard since he took over as general manager in 2017.
