Colts select S Marvell Tell with No. 144 pick in 2019 NFL Draft

The Indianapolis Colts selected former USC safety Marvell Tell with the No. 144 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Colts were slated to have a selection before this, but they packaged that and their original fourth-round pick in a trade to draft safety Khari Willis at No. 109. Indy then used the No. 144 pick, which they received from the Browns, to select Tell.

The Colts double down on the safety positon to begin Day 3. Tell brings elite athleticism to the secondary. He’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds while recording a 6.63 in the three-cone drill, which is incredible.

A four-year starter at USC, Tell finished his career with 220 tackles (127 solo), five interceptions, 6.5 tackles for loss and 13 passes defended.

Tell was Draft Wire’s 17th-ranked safety and 196th-ranked overall prospect in the class.

The Colts are scheduled to have three more selections on Day 3: one more in the fifth round (No. 164) and one each in the sixth (No. 199) and seventh (No. 240) rounds.
