The Indianapolis Colts selected former Mississippi State edge rusher Gerri Green with the No. 199 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Colts have truly emphasized drafting athletic players on the defensive side of the ball. Their Day 3 picks have included defensive backs Khari Willis and Marvell Tell to go along with linebacker E.J. Speed. They exit the sixth-round with the selection of Green.
The run on defensive depth continued in the sixth round as the Colts added an athletic member to the front seven. He has experience playing both with his hand in the dirt and as a linebacker.
In 49 career games at Mississippi State, Green recorded 20.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, with the latter coming all in the final two seasons.
