Colts’ Ryan Kelly was among most efficient centers in 2018

Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly enjoyed a strong season when he was healthy during the 2018 campaign. He proved to be one of the best centers in the game both as a run blocker and a pass protector.

It was widely known the impact Kelly had in the run game, but the Alabama product was also one of the league’s most efficient pass blockers among all centers as he allowed the fifth-lowest pressure percentage, per Pro Football Focus.

Kelly was playing at a Pro Bowl level throughout the season but suffered through neck and knee injuries during the second half, which limited him to playing 12 games.

Kelly was the anchor for the Colts offensive line. His work brought together the interior in run blocking, especially when working off of combo blocks and climbing to the second level.

The Colts have a decision to make with Kelly this offseason. They must decide if they want to pick up his fifth-year option by May 3. It’s a move they should do but not one they need to do.

The Colts offensive line was strong in 2018, and Kelly had an obvious impact on the unit when he was healthy during the season.
