Colts rule out LB Darius Leonard, DE Jabaal Sheard vs. Falcons

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard has been ruled out for the Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Frank Reich told reporters Friday.

It isn’t much of a surprise as Leonard is dealing with a concussion and wasn’t able to log one practice all week. He has to clear the league’s protocol before being eligible to play, and it is clear he hasn’t done so.

Reich also ruled out veteran defensive end Jabaal Sheard, who returned to practice this week in a limited fashion as he works his way back from a knee injury.

Leonard will be replaced by rookie third-round pick Bobby Okereke while Sheard will likely be replaced by a combination of Kemoko Turay, Al-Quadin Muhammad and rookie Ben Banogu.

Reich also mentioned that running back Marlon Mack didn’t practice due to a calf injury but that he has a chance to play on Sunday.

The Colts will release the official injury report for the game later on Friday.
