Colts remain confident in Adam Vinatieri

The Indianapolis Colts (5-2) won a nail-biter against the Denver Broncos (2-6) putting the ball in the hands of kicker Adam Vinatieri with the game on the line.

Despite missing two kicks beforehand, head coach Frank Reich put his confidence in the veteran kicker to hit a 51-yard field goal attempt with 26 seconds remaining on the clock.

The 46-year-old did so with ease, nailing the game-winner and proving the confidence placed in him wasn’t misguided. Reich said after the game that the confidence in Vinatieri hasn’t wavered.

Vinatieri missed a 45-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter following the first drive. He also missed the extra-point attempt following Marlon Mack’s touchdown run in the third quarter.

After those two kicks, the confidence wasn’t high among the fan base. But it appears Reich was going to give Vinatieri the chance regardless, especially with the play calls in the two runs just before the kick.

The Colts move onto 5-2 with the big kick from Vinatieri, and it seems the Colts never wavered had any doubts putting the game in his hands.
