Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich gave an update about the progress of quarterback Andrew Luck, who is still dealing with a calf injury that has lingered for roughly three months.
With Luck not expected to practice this weekend—for at least the next three days—Reich didn’t have an encouraging update regarding the calf, but he did try to look on the bright side of the situation.
“So we remain confident and optimistic on Andrew’s situation but again, it’s still day-to-day and working through that plan, what is the best plan for him, for the team? So we will just adjust as needed, if needed,” Reich told reporters in a conference call Friday.
There is a good chance the Colts hold Luck out of all team activities as training camp enters its third week They are staying extremely cautious and even though Luck is making some progress, the pain is still there.
There is still pain the Colts aren’t comfortable with in throwing Luck back out to the field.
“He is continuing to progress with his strength, which is awesome. There still is a degree of pain that he is not comfortable with, obviously we are not comfortable with putting him out there,” Reich said. “So probably likely not going to be out there for these next three practices and we are just going to continue to work with our medical staff on a plan moving forward.”
The Colts will continue to monitor the calf of Luck, but it is still unclear when the quarterback will be returning to the field.
