Colts release QB Phillip Walker

As a part of the roster cuts on Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts released quarterback Phillip Walker, who was competing for the backup role behind Jacoby Brissett.

Despite a rough preseason, there was a small chance the Colts might have kept Walker on the roster to back up Brissett while Chad Kelly serves his two-game suspension to start the season, but it appears they have a plan in place for the backup role behind Brissett.

Walker was an undrafted free agent out of Temple that signed with the Colts following the 2017 NFL Draft. He has yet to play in a game during his career and spent his time on the practice squad throughout his two seasons.

In the 2019 preseason, Walker completed 50% of his passes (32/64) for 349 yards, two interceptions and a 53.5 passer rating.
