Colts reach contract agreement with Justin Houston

The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly reached a contract agreement with former Kansas City Chiefs edge rusher Justin Houston.

With a need to add a presence in the pass rush, the Colts waited until the second wave of free agency to address the need. Houston was thought of as a possible target for the Colts as someone that can provide an immediate impact off the edge.

The news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN and confirmed by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It was expected that the Colts would become more active once the first wave of free agency ended. With a need to add some consistency to the pass rush, Houston was the best option in the market at this time.

Houston, 30, played 12 games with the Chiefs while recording 9.0 sacks working as an outside linebacker.

He might not be the pass rusher he once was, but Houston should be able to provide an immediate upgrade for the Colts, who are looking to be more consistent rushing the passer.
