Colts’ Quenton Nelson on foot surgery: ‘No time for pity’

Indianapolis Colts left guard Quenton Nelson underwent successful foot surgery on Tuesday but won’t be using this time to feel bad about himself.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media Wednesday that Nelson’s surgery was a success without finding additional damage. The three-time All-Pro had a bit more passioned message via his Instagram.

“3rd surgery of the offseason in the books, no time for pity. [expletive] that. Truth is, I’m thankful, thankful the early part of the time table says 5 weeks. That gives me 5 weeks to do everything I can physically and mentally to be ready to go Week 1 to smash these goals. DYJ NMW”

Nelson, coincidentally, underwent the same procedure with the same doctor just a day after quarterback Carson Wentz had his. The timelines for return are wide, and the Colts will likely know more about it after a few weeks of rest.

Week 1 is still very much in play for both Wentz and Nelson but a cautious approach should be taken given the wide range of recovery timelines this surgery has had.

Still, we can expect Nelson to come back hungrier than ever.
