So much will change before the 2019 regular season even begins that looking at division odds doesn’t really matter at this time of year, but fans should be encouraged by the fact that the Indianapolis Colts are already being pegged as favorites to win the division.
After a surprising but promising campaign in 2018, the Colts have basically expedited the rebuild set in place and are looking toward the regular season in hopes to continue their dominance in the AFC South.
Though it is only one sportsbook out of several, the Colts are favored to win the division in 2019, per CG Tehcnology Sportsbooks via ESPN.
Here are the projected win totals for the Colts and the rest of the division from CG Technology:
- Indianapolis Colts: 9.5 wins
- Houston Texans: 8.5 wins
- Tennessee Titans: 8.5 wins
- Jacksonville Jaguars: 8 wins
Even though the Colts are likely to be favored to win the division, barring any major changes during the offseason, the AFC South is still shaping up to be a tight race.
The Colts have the advantage at quarterback and offensive line, but a team like the Texans with their stout pass rush and solid offense should project to have a solid year ahead.
After a relatively quiet free agency, which was to be expected, the Colts are turning their attention to the main event in the form of the 2019 NFL Draft. If all goes well, Indy can be set to make a run for years to come.
A lot can and will change before the season even starts, but the signs are pointing up for the Colts, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they continue to be viewed as the favorites of the division.
