Colts’ player of the game vs. Raiders: RB Jonathan Taylor

In a tough and infuriating loss, the Indianapolis Colts (9-7) missed an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth, losing to the Las Vegas Raiders (9-7), 23-20.

While Frank Reich’s squad didn’t come away with the win, it was a historic afternoon for the second-year phenom running back Jonathan Taylor.

Taylor finished with 108 yards and a touchdown, eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the 10th time this season. In fact, this was the first game all year that Taylor reached triple digits rushing and the Colts did not come away with a win.

This game was also significant because Taylor broke the Colts’ single-season rushing record set by Edgerrin James in 2000. This is just another milestone in Jonathan Taylor’s young career and certainly not his last.

All is not lost. The Colts still control their own destiny and can get into the playoffs with a win next week in Jacksonville. If the Colts want to make a run in the postseason, they will need to keep feeding Jonathan Taylor and do a better job in the trenches.
