Colts’ Player of the Game vs. Falcons: QB Jacoby Brissett

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett was injured during the week and did not have the most impressive stat lines in the first two games. Part of that is due to the success of the run game, but Brissett has still been finding his comfort in Frank Reich’s offense. Sunday, however, was Jacoby’s day.

Brissett started the game by going 16 of 16 for 178 yards and a touchdown pass to Zach Pascal. The poise of this young quarterback was so impressive Sunday as he was throwing the ball accurately and efficiently while making some big-time plays.

He would finish the day going 28 of 37 for 310 yards and two touchdowns. His second touchdown came from a touchdown pass to his favorite red-zone target, T.Y. Hilton, who left the game after that play with an injured quad.

This was exactly the type of game Brissett needed to cement himself as a legitimate quarterback in this league. A lot of speculation surrounded him taking over for Andrew Luck, but Brissett has silenced the critics and has been nothing but spectacular.

Hopefully Brissett and company can ride this wave into next week against Oakland. The Colts stand at 2-1 on the season. A great start, but still a long way to go.
