Colts’ Pierre Desir gets 3-year deal worth up to $25M

The Indianapolis Colts are set to bring back cornerback Pierre Desir on a three-year contract extension when the new league year begins.

A valuable piece in the secondary and in the locker room, Desir will get a three-year deal worth up to $25 million with $12 million guaranteed, per multiple reports.

The Colts haven’t made many moves since the legal tampering period opened Monday, but bringing back Desir on a three-year deal is a major win. His presence will add some veteran stability in a young secondary while general manager Chris Ballard add some depth to the room.

The deal is friendly for both sides. Desir gets the much-deserved payday after proving he’s a viable asset in the secondary while the Colts avoid breaking the bank for a boundary corner.

The Colts can still add some depth to the cornerback room both in free agency and the NFL draft if they felt the need to do so, but Desir returning gives them starting-quality depth at one of the boundary spots to begin the offseason.
