Colts’ Philip Rivers has milestone day in win vs. Jets

The Indianapolis Colts offense wasn’t needed much in the 36-7 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, but that didn’t stop quarterback Philip Rivers from achieving some career milestones.

It started on the Colts’ first offensive drive of the game. After cornerback Xavier Rhodes had already taken an interception back for a touchdown, Rivers drove the Colts offense down the field for a score. At the goal line, he found tight end Mo Alie-Cox on a leak out for his 400th career touchdown pass. He’s the sixth quarterback in NFL history to achieve the feat.

Quickly following that milestone, Rivers became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 60,000 yards in a career. Then, Rivers passes Hall of Famer Dan Marino to become fifth all-time in completions for a career.

The game script worked in the favor of the Colts, who again didn’t have to lean on Rivers to get them a win. He finished completing 17 of 21 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. He finished with a 125.6 passer rating in the win.

With the defense dominating, the Colts cruised to a home victory while Rivers made some history of his own.
