Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell will have surgery to repair the MCL and PCL injuries he suffered in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings but has not been ruled out for the rest of the season, the Colts announced Monday.
Campbell suffered his injury taking a carry on the Colts’ second offensive play of the game. It was a nasty hit and while he avoided tearing his ACL, he suffered MCL and PCL injuries that landed him on the injured reserve list.
Last week, head coach Frank Reich told the media that it was still up in the air as to whether Campbell would undergo the procedure. It appears the decision has been made, but the team hasn’t ruled out the second-year wide receiver for the remainder of the season.
It was expected that Campbell would miss a significant amount of time on the injured reserve list and possibly the rest of the season, but that seems to be more of a wait-and-see situation—even if there’s a high chance he does wind up missing.
The Colts also announced that rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is expected to miss a few weeks after suffering a leg injury that required surgery on Sunday night. There’s a chance he is out until the Colts return from their bye in Week 8.
As for Campbell, it remains to be seen what will happen with the rest of the season. But we now know he will undergo the procedure and hopefully put this injury behind him.
