Colts’ Parris Campbell (hamstring) suffers minor setback

Indianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver flashed some of the intriguing talent during the early portion of training camp but hasn’t been on the field for roughly two weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Though he was expected to make a return, Campbell suffered a minor setback with the hamstring injury when testing it out on Sunday. It isn’t clear how long the setback will push him back in his rehab, but head coach Frank Reich said Monday that the Colts will continue to hold him out until it gets resolved.

Fortunately for Campbell, he doesn’t have to worry about this impacting his chances to make the roster. The second-round pick is a virtual lock for a spot, but this does hinder his ability to get acclimated into the offense—a task that usually takes a while for rookie wide receivers.

Campbell has flashed some of that high-upside potential the Colts saw in him during the pre-draft process, but he’s missed 10 consecutive practices in training camp due to the injury. That includes Monday’s setback.

When Campbell will return to the field is up in the air, but it appears the rookie speedster will have to head back to the training room for rehab rather than getting on the field and practicing.
