Colts’ Parris Campbell (foot) undergoes successful surgery

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell underwent successful surgery on a foot injury he suffered during the Week 6 win over the Houston Texans.

A theme that has defined Campbell’s career through three seasons, injuries continue to keep him from making a consistent impact. Campbell injured his foot on the 51-yard touchdown catch against the Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium.

It isn’t clear what the diagnosis of the foot injury is, and it’s not clear what the timetable for return is. But Campbell tweeted Friday morning that the surgery was a success.

There could be some speculation that Campbell, who is currently on the injured reserve list, is marking Christmas as his return date. There hasn’t been any confirmation from Frank Reich or anyone in the organization on that.

Campbell’s potential has always been through the roof, but his career has been defined by injury. He was limited to just seven games during his rookie season after four separate injuries required three surgeries. His second season saw him play one game before a knee injury kept him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Campbell still has one more year on his rookie contract so it’s unlikely the team parts ways with him in 2022. But he’ll certainly be facing a prove-it year given how his career started due to injuries.
