Colts open to trading 34th pick

The Indianapolis Colts made somewhat of an expected move during the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, trading their selection to the Washington Redskins.

It was a move that general manager Chris Ballard said all along was a major possibility. They wound up moving back to the No. 46 pick while adding an addition 2020 second-round pick.

Even after the trade to move out of the first round, Ballard isn’t closing the door on making another transaction with the Colts’ first selection on Day 2, which comes in at No. 34 overall and the second pick of the round.

Should Ballard move back again, he would have to feel extremely confident about where the board currently sits. There are a number of teams that could be looking to move up, but Indy would have to feel comfortable enough to move back.

One team that could be looking to move up to No. 34 is the Denver Broncos as Zach Hicks of Stampede Blue pointed out as a potential scenario.

That would be quite the haul for Indy on Day 2, and given how much Ballard wants to add selections, it is certainly possible.

The Colts currently have three selections in the second round and one in the third round on Friday. Most analysts believe the value of this year’s crop all come during this day.

How the Colts will use their remaining selections remains to be seen, but moving back to begin Day 2 is certainly in the realm of possibilities on Friday.
