Colts open as 7-point underdogs to Chargers

The Indianapolis Colts have officially entered game week as they prepare for the Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Without Andrew Luck under center following his abrupt retirement, the Colts will likely be viewed as underdogs in most of their matchups for the 2019 season. That begins in a big way in Week 1 as the Colts are listed as seven-point underdogs against the Chargers, per SportsBook Wire.

Some sportsbooks such as Covers or BetAmerica has the Colts listed as 6.5 and six-point underdogs, respectively, while Caesers has Indy listed as three-point underdogs.

The consensus has the Colts somewhere in the range of six-to-seven-point underdogs against the Chargers. The over/under ranges from 43.5 to 48 points.

Most of the reason the Colts are underdogs is due to the Luck’s absence. The former star quarterback brought a lot to the table, and Indy will have to figure out a way to get by without him.

They believe they have the answer, though, in Jacoby Brissett—who just signed a contract extension worth $30 million with $20 million guaranteed.

Playing on the road without their franchise quarterback will be tough, but the Colts are fine playing the role of underdog again.

They will do so to begin the 2019 season as pretty big underdogs on the road against the Chargers.
