In 2018, the Indianapolis Colts finally had their quarterback position figured out with the return of Andrew Luck. After missing the previous season due to injury, Luck played the best football of his career by throwing for nearly 4,600 passing yards and 39 touchdowns.
And although Luck re-established himself as their starting quarterback, the Colts’ solution at that position even included having a legitimate backup in Jacoby Brissett, who started 15 games during Luck’s absence in 2017.

2018 position review
Throughout last season, the Colts witnessed high-level play from Luck. While it’s easy to point out his numbers, there was more to understand about the former No. 1 overall pick. With each game, we witnessed a more mature and efficient Luck in various ways.
As Luck received stellar pass protection because he was only sacked 18 times, his decision making and pocket awareness greatly improved. Gone were the days of Luck being hit too many times or forcing passes he shouldn’t have. For the first time in his career, Luck fully embraced making the smart plays rather than living to see another play.
Offseason outlook
With another important offseason already underway, the Colts do have a few positions that have to be addressed. But quarterback isn’t one of them. With Luck having a clean bill of health and the team being happy with Brissett as their backup, the Colts won’t do much at quarterback besides making another signing or two that will be related to OTAs and training camp.
There is the question, though, about whether the Colts might try to move Brissett before his rookie contract expires following the 2019 season. If they are looking to get any type of compensation for the 25-year-old, this offseason is their last chance to do so.
Level of concern
If it was possible, I would say the Colts’ level of concern at the quarterback position is lower than low, but I won’t do that. It’s low for obvious reasons and the only way, I can see the concern increasing is if Luck gets injured again or they can’t find a solid replacement for Brissett should they trade him.
Potential additions
None, outside of a camp body.
