Colts officially have most salary cap space in NFL

Now that the 2019 salary cap for the NFL has been made official, the Indianapolis Colts are the team with the most cap space in the entire league.

The Colts led the projections for most of the offseason but because nothing was official, most of it had to be taken with a grain of salt. However, they now officially have the most salary cap space in the NFL sitting at $106.4 million, per Over The Cap.

With so much salary cap space, the Colts can go after any free agent available on the market. Whether they will pursue any blue-chip free agent this offseason is the question.

There are several areas the Colts can add depth and talent to when the free agent market officially opens on March 13. Those positions include defensive line, wide receiver and safety.

It isn’t yet clear how many pass rushers will be available as most of the top options can still receive the franchise tag before the March 5 deadline. But, there are still some solid Tier 2 options the Colts could spend some cash on.

In terms of the safety position, there are a number of potential free agents that could help fill the current void opposite Malik Hooker.

The Colts have ample opportunity to add depth to a few positions through free agency and with the most salary cap space in the league, officially, Chris Ballard should have no obstacle going after a free agent he likes.
