Colts offensive line was extremely efficient in pass blocking

The Indianapolis Colts offensive line made a shocking turnaround during the 2018 season becoming one of the best units in the NFL, which benefitted starting quarterback Andrew Luck.

The Colts wound up allowing the fewest sacks in the NFL one year after allowing the most in the league, and it was the most efficient season by the unit since Luck entered the league in 2012, per Pro Football Focus.

With a strong protection plan each week and the emergence of players like Quenton Nelson, Mark Glowinski and Braden Smith, the Colts protected Luck better than they had ever been able to in his career.

The results were as expected in Frank Reich’s offense after Luck finished 2018 with the most efficient numbers of his career while throwing for the second-most touchdown passes in the NFL (39), behind only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The starting five for the Colts are all under contract for the 2019 season, which gives plenty of encouragement that the offensive success will pick up where it left off in 2018.
