Colts might let WR Dontrelle Inman, CB Pierre Desir test free agency

The Indianapolis Colts are looking at several free agents to pursue when the new league year begins in March, but they are also looking at their own players like wide receiver Dontrelle Inman and cornerback Pierre Desir, evaluating whether they should be re-signed.

While general manager Chris Ballard expressed interest in re-signing both veterans, there is also the high chance the Colts let them test free agency to find their worth to other teams.

Along with safety Clayton Geathers, the pending free agent duo of Inman and Desir are among the Colts’ top players set to hit the market. Both players helped their respective sides of the ball in a big way during the second half of the season.

Inman arrived for the second half of the year and wound up carving out a role as the WR2 opposite T.Y. Hilton. His work on intermediate routes allowed him to become a reliable target for Andrew Luck, especially on third down.

Desir eventually took over a starting role as a boundary corner in the Colts’ zone-heavy defensive scheme. He thrived being physical at the line of scrimmage while also showing the ability to succeed in man coverage at times.

It remains to be seen what will happen when the new league year begins March 13, but it seems these veterans will be able to test the market before the Colts make their offer.
