Colts’ Michael Pittman Jr. reaches career milestone for 2021

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. reached an impressive milestone for his young career by eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards for the 2021 season.

Pittman Jr. needed just 29 receiving yards to hit that mark entering Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

He achieved the milestone with a five-yard catch in the third quarter.

Pittman Jr. is the first wide receiver to hit 1,000 yards in a season for the Colts since T.Y. Hilton did it in 2018. He’s also the youngest Colts wide receiver (24) to hit the mark in a season since Hilton (24) did it in 2013.

The 2020 second-round pick truly emerged as the alpha in the passing game for the Colts in 2021. Entering the Week 17 game against the Raiders, Pittman Jr. led the offense in targets (116), target share (25.8%), receptions (76), receiving yards (971) and receiving touchdowns (5).

The Colts will need to add to their passing attack this offseason, but it’s clear Pittman Jr. has proven he can be the alpha in the offense when it comes to airing the ball out.
