Colts’ Marlon Mack to have MRI on Achilles

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich confirmed that running back Marlon Mack did suffer an Achilles injury in the 27-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

While the Colts don’t know the extent of the injury, there is a fear it could be a torn Achilles. If that turns out to be the case, the 24-year-old’s season will be finished. He is set to go for an MRI scan on Monday.

Mack suffered his Achilles injury during the first half of Sunday’s loss. It was a non-contact injury, and he immediately went down. He limped off the field with help from the training staff and eventually was carted to the locker room.

Mack finished the day with four carries for 26 yards and three receptions on three targets for 30 yards.

Mack is in the final year of his rookie contract and will be a free agent following the 2020 season. If this is a torn Achilles, that’s a tough blow for the former fourth-round pick.

With Mack out indefinitely, the early-down duties will go to rookie second-round pick Jonathan Taylor while Nyheim Hines will also see work as a receiver.
