Colts’ Marlon Mack reaches 1,000 rushing yards

Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack has been steadily improving every season and he reached a milestone on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers by rushing for 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.

The third-year back reached the milestone for the first time in his career even after missing two games due to a fractured hand. A commitment to the run, an elite offensive line and Mack’s elusiveness led the way to a strong season.

Mack reached the milestone on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Even before Andrew Luck retired during the preseason, the Colts wanted to make the run game more of a priority on offense. They believed in Mack to take the lion’s share of carries in the backfield, and he’s done so beautifully in his second season as a starter.

This is the 21st time a Colts running back has reached 1,000 yards in a season and it is the first time since 2007 that it has happened (Joseph Addai).

The Colts’ season may be lost in terms of playoff hopes, but at least Mack could find success that led to a milestone.
