Colts’ Marlon Mack (ankle) returns to practice

The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) have a big challenge awaiting them on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs (4-0), but it appears they have a chance to see the return of running back Marlon Mack.

After being listed as a non-participant in the first two practices of the week due to an ankle injury, Mack was spotted Friday with pads on getting ready for practice, which is encouraging for what is likely to be a questionable injury designation in Week 5.

Mack suffered the ankle injury during the second half of the Week 4 loss to the Oakland Raiders. The Colts could have put him back out in the game, but the training staff felt he wouldn’t be himself.

On the season, Mack has 72 carries for 338 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry. If he’s unable to play Sunday night, the Colts likely go with a combination of Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines in the backfield.

The Colts will release their injury designations for the game later on Friday, which will give us a better idea of his status.
