Colts’ Marlon Mack a ‘fantasy football winner’ following free agency

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping their backfield can take a step forward during the 2019 season, and they seem content on allowing Marlon Mack to lead the unit once again.

After an efficient season working in Frank Reich’s offense, Mack put up career numbers in his second campaign and showed he can be a strong option in the backfield.

With the constant support for Mack leading the running back room, coupled with the fact that the Colts didn’t make any big changes at the position, the USF product was listed as a “winner” in fantasy football by Michael Fabiano of NFL.com.

The Colts have a ton of money to spend, and some out there (including myself) were hoping they would use some of it to sign Le’Veon Bell. Well, Bell signed with the Jets and Indianapolis looks secure with Mack atop its 2019 depth chart. He’ll have high-RB2 potential in the Colts’ offense.

Mack will be entering his third season as the leader in the backfield for the Colts, which should bring about plenty of fantasy relevance. He was a strong option for managers down the stretch of the 2018 season and even had a few week-winning performances.

While Reich will continue to use the committee approach mixing in looks for Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins, the lion’s share of touches are still expected to go to Mack.

Behind an offensive line that will be returning it’s starting five and in an offense that has the chance to be one of the top units in the NFL, Mack is set up for a strong campaign in Year 3.

Where Mack’s value will be in re-draft leagues remains to be seen, but he is set up to bring fantasy managers some success in his third season.
