Colts’ Malik Hooker expects to play vs. Broncos

The Indianapolis Colts have been without starting safety Malik Hooker for the past three games, but it appears they will be getting him back for the Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

Hooker, who tore his meniscus during the Week 3 win against the Atlanta Falcons, expects to play on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s not official, but the third-year safety believes he will be ready to go.

The Colts have used rookie Khari Willis and second-year safety George Odum while Hooker recovered from the knee injury. With the defense playing as well as it has all season, the unit gets a huge boost with the return of a talented defensive back.

Though Hooker hasn’t put up gaudy stat lines, his impact is evident in the fact that teams don’t like to test downfield passes on his side of the field.

The Colts have a favorable matchup against the Broncos offense in Week 8, and it will only help their chances if Hooker really does return to the field.
