Colts’ Kenny Moore to sign 4-year extension

It has been a busy spring for the Indianapolis Colts handing out contract extensions, and cornerback Kenny Moore is the latest to earn a new deal.

Moore will be getting a four-year extension from the Colts that will make him the highest-paid slot cornerback in the league, per multiple reports. The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It was expected that the Colts would wind up giving Moore an extension at some point given that he was the team’s best cornerback in 2018, but it wasn’t clear when.

General manager Chris Ballard wanted to get that out of the way by locking up Moore for the next four years, which is a trend among the latest extensions.

Moore was an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2017. He was claimed off of waivers by the Colts just before the start of that regular season and wound up carving out a role by the end of the campaign.

He returned in 2018 to lead the cornerback room in snaps played while thriving in coverage—both man and zone. Moore was also used as a nickel blitzer during the second half of the season en route to recording 1.5 sacks.

The Colts haven’t been shy about paying their own, and they’ve made that clear with Moore becoming the NFL’s highest-paid slot cornerback.
