Colts’ Kemoko Turay out for season with broken ankle

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Kemoko Turay had to be carted off the field in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night due to a gruesome ankle injury, and it appears he will be out for the season.

Converging on a third-down sack of Patrick Mahomes, Turay’s ankle was rolled up on as Mahomes was going to the ground. It was apparent that the injury was serious both from the direction the ankle was rested in and from the reaction of his teammates.

The official diagnosis for Turay is a broken ankle, which will knock him out for the rest of the season, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The second-year defensive end was working well in a limited role all season, and it appeared he may have been carving out a bigger role following this game. Turay finished this game with 0.5 sacks and three quarterback hits.

The speed rusher was primed for a breakout season before the injury but will now give way to Al-Quadin Muhammad and Ben Banogu to see more snaps.
