Colts’ Jim Irsay wants to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls

The arrow for the Indianapolis Colts is pointing straight up. They have their franchise quarterback healthy and thriving, a head coach that has shown he can lead the team and a general manager that has a solid plan in place.

As for the owner in Jim Irsay, he sees the potential of the team and where it stands, which is why he made his point very clear at the NFL owners meetings about what he wants from the organization.

He wants to win three Super Bowls in a row.

“I really feel like this is a young team that’s ascending,” Irsay said last week via the Indianapolis Star. “You guys know, I will unabashedly say, I’d like to win three in a row. How hard is it? I mean, it’s hard as hell just to win one.”

Even when the organization was at it’s best during his century, the Colts only appeared in the Super Bowl twice. That’s how hard it is each season to field a championship winning team.

The New England Patriots have come as close as any team to fielding a dynasty and even they have only won consecutive Super Bowls one time.

The Colts have a long way to go before hitting the elite tier, despite what they showed in 2018. They are on their way, but additions need to be made in order to have a dynasty.

Luckily for them, they do have the pieces in place to begin fielding an extremely competitive team.

Andrew Luck is back and better than ever before. His offensive line is young and talented. The defense is pointing upward with foundational pieces all along the roster.

With nine picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Colts have a real chance to continue adding to the roster in hopes of building a perennial contender.

Winning three Super Bowls in a row has never been done before, but Irsay won’t keep his expectations light as the Colts enter a vital time for the organization.
