Colts’ Jack Doyle named a fantasy football sleeper by ESPN

The Indianapolis Colts are excited to see the return of veteran tight end Jack Doyle at training camp, which should have plenty of impact on the fantasy football landscape surrounding the offense.

Doyle isn’t the flashiest or most-fun fantasy asset to plug into your lineup, but he is steady and consistent when healthy. Given his current ADP—TE16—Doyle is considered a sleeper in the eyes of Jim McCormick of ESPN.

As the second-most coveted fantasy option at his position on his own team heading into the new season, it’s fair to consider Doyle a sleeper of sorts. This isn’t even an indictment of Eric Ebron’s fantasy profile, but rather an appraisal of Doyle’s that suggests though he might not have the touchdown equity his peer claims, he enjoyed a third more passing routes run per game than Ebron in the six games both were active together last season. Which is to say, Doyle is likely to lead this depth chart in routes run, targets, yards and receptions this season with an expectation this arrangement continues.

Currently going in the late rounds of redraft leagues, Doyle presents strong value as long as he doesn’t suffer any hiccups on his way back to the field. The 29-year-old tight end underwent hip and kidney procedures this offseason but is only rehabbing the former right now.

Doyle presents a lot of value because of what he brings to the table. He will step in immediately at the TE1 in the offense playing roughly 80% of the offensive snaps. While he might not be as dynamic as his counterpart in Eric Ebron, his volume will be much higher.

If Doyle’s ADP continues to hover around the 13th round, he’s a solid bet to outproduce that draft slot, thus making him a formidable sleeper at the tight end position.
