Colts’ Jack Doyle (hip) running routes at full speed

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle missed the entire spring workout program, but he’s making some encouraging progress already as he was seen running routes at full speed.

Following the conclusion of minicamp on Thursday, Doyle was seen on the practice field running routes, per Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star.

Doyle has been rehabbing this spring following surgery to repair a subluxation of the hip he suffered early in 2018. He also had to get a procedure done on his kidney during the second half of the season, which effectively ended his campaign.

Entering a contract year, Doyle is expected to be a big part of the offense once he returns fully. Not only is he one of Andrew Luck’s favorite short and intermediate targets, but he’s also one of the best run-blocking tight ends in the league.

During the 2018 season, Doyle played six games (all starts) while catching 26 of 33 targets for 245 yards and two touchdowns.

It isn’t clear if Doyle will be ready to participate in full when the start of training camp arrives at the end of July, but this is a very encouraging sign that he is making significant progress.
