Colts’ Jabaal Sheard to miss time with knee injury

The Indianapolis Colts are likely to be without defensive end Jabaal Sheard for some time after the veteran suffered a knee injury during training camp.

While the injury isn’t expected to be season-ending, it does appear that it is significant enough for Sheard to miss some time. Head coach Frank Reich said Sheard had an MRI on the knee, but the team doesn’t know a timetable yet. They aren’t sure either if the veteran will need surgery.

Sheard hasn’t been at Colts practice for the last two days, and the Colts will get a chance to see what the depth looks like at the defensive end position. Al-Quadin Muhammad and rookies Gerri Green and Ben Banogu will see time at defensive end. Second-year edge rusher Kemoko Turay has been dealing with a shoulder injury.
