Colts interviewed Air Force K Jake Koehnke

The Indianapolis Colts made some big moves during free agency but as the 2020 NFL Draft continues to hold its date at the end of April, it seems Indy will have an eye on the market for kickers.

Even though players aren’t allowed to travel for meetings amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Colts can still contact players leading up to the draft. It seems they had an interview with former Air Force kicker Jake Koehnke as they try to find a replacement for the leading scorer in NFL history, Adam Vinatieri.

In 2019, Koehnke was 13/13 on field goal attempts and 51/55 (92.7%) on extra-point attempts for Air Force.

The Colts aren’t going to use one of their draft picks on a kicker, especially now that they only have seven selections—all of which come between Rounds 2–6. But with Vinatieri’s status up in the air and despite Chase McLaughlin currently on the roster, the Colts will be conducting their due diligence at the position.

Whether that winds up making Koehnke an undrafted free agent target remains to be seen, but the Colts are still getting their draft prep done with a month to go.
