Colts injury updates: Clayton Geathers in concussion protocol

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich addressed the media Monday in a conference call and gave various updates on the injuries that the team is dealing with entering Week 5.

Here’s a look at some of the players Reich discussed on Monday:

Clayton Geathers (concussion)

Despite playing every snap during the Week 4 loss against the Oakland Raiders, Geathers is now in the league’s concussion protocol after showing symptoms following the game. It isn’t clear how long Geathers will be out as concussions are relative to the player, but don’t be surprised if the Colts add a safety for Week 5.

Marlon Mack (ankle)

The third-year running back saw limited snaps both due to game script and tweaking his ankle. Reich didn’t comment on a timetable for Mack but said they are monitoring the injury throughout the week. It isn’t clear if Mack will be healthy enough to play in Week 5, especially with the bye coming immediately after.

Parris Campbell (abdominal)

The rookie wide receiver caught five passes for 25 yards and had a fumble on Sunday. He also suffered an injury during the first half but eventually returned. Campbell’s status is the same as Mack’s—the team will be monitoring it throughout the week. As the Colts are already down a few wide receivers, Campbell’s presence is still big regardless of the lack of production to begin his career.

Darius Leonard (concussion)

Having now missed two games due to a concussion, Leonard appears to be making progress in the league’s protocol. He was seen working out during pregame on Sunday, which bodes well for his outlook. However, Reich said the team will continue to be extra cautious while allowing the process and protocol to play itself out.

There was no update on wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who was inactive with a quad injury in Week 4.
