Colts injury updates: CB Kenny Moore dealing with groin issue

The Indianapolis Colts were on the field with pads for the first time this preseason and while they aren’t obligated to give injury reports, there were some updates from head coach Frank Reich on Monday.

At this point, it isn’t clear how severe any of these injuries are. However, the Colts are playing it cautiously as a number of starters were either held out of practice or suffered an injury during the session.

Here’s a quick roundup of the players Reich touched on following Monday’s practice:

CB Kenny Moore (groin)

Moore was having himself a day before suffering a groin injury. He made a big pass break up on a swing route before leaving practice for the rest of the day. He was still on the sideline but had his helmet off while the rest of the team worked.

Reich told reporters he doesn’t know how severe the groin injury is.

DE Justin Houston (neck)

The veteran defensive end was held out of Monday’s practice with a neck injury. Reich said he had an awkward collision during Sunday’s practice session. They believe it to be minor, but Houston wasn’t working at all during practice.

Even so, Houston was seen giving direction to the rest of the defensive line and staying active despite not being able to practice.

RT Braden Smith (foot)

The starting right tackle for the Colts was also held out of practice Monday due to a foot injury. He was present on the sideline but didn’t get any work in. Reich doesn’t believe the foot injury to be serious.

However, they don’t want to push it too hard too soon and it wind becoming a problem down the road.
