Indianapolis Colts legendary defensive end Dwight Freeney was inducted into the organization’s Ring of Honor during halftime of the Week 10 matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The No. 11 overall pick with the Colts in the 2002 NFL Draft, Freeney was a constant backfield wrecker opposite Robert Mathis to give Indy one of the best pass-rushing duos in the history of the game.
Freeney spent 11 seasons with the Colts, etching his name in the lore of the organization as one of its greatest players and defenders to ever wear the horseshoe.
Freeney’s 107.5 career sacks with the Colts are the second-most behind only Mathis for the franchise lead. Freeney is the franchise leader in tackles for loss (113). His 163 career games played are the third-most in franchise history among Colts defenders.
With Freeney, the Colts now have 16 former players, coaches and executives in the Ring of Honor. The most recent inductees were wide receiver Reggie Wayne (2018) and quarterback Peyton Manning (2017). Freeney is the first defender to be inducted into the Ring of Honor.
