Colts hosted free agent DB Tavon Wilson

The Indianapolis Colts brought in free agent defensive back Tavon Wilson for a visit on Saturday.

After cornerback Marvell Tell and safety Rolan Milligan both opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Colts are little thin in the secondary.

It should be made known that the Colts cannot host any workouts with free agents. They can only bring in a player with the intent to sign them.

Wilson, 30, is a former second-round pick with the New England Patriots. He spent four seasons there from 2012–2015 before joining the Detriot Lions from 2016–2019.

In 110 career games played (43 starts), Wilson has recorded eight interceptions, 19 passes defended, 5.0 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. He also held a big role on special teams during his time with the Patriots.

The Colts have very little depth in the secondary behind their starters and could use a solid one-year rental like Wilson, who would also provide special teams help in the way that Milligan did.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this visit, but it is certainly something to monitor.
