Colts hosted DT Jeffery Simmons on pre-draft visit

The Indianapolis Colts have a need to add to their interior pass rush when the 2019 NFL Draft finally arrives in a few weeks, and one of the polarizing prospects to consider is Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

A top-15 talent on the field, Simmons is likely to slide after tearing his ACL in February. Still, teams could consider investing some high draft capital in Simmons due to his near-elite talent on the field.

The Colts appear to be doing their research on Simmons, who posted to his Snapchat story that he was at the facility. The snap story won’t be viewed following 24 hours after being posted.

Simmons is an interesting case for the Colts. His talent on the field is exceptional. He’s a penetrating interior pass rusher that features elite athleticism, size and length to be a constant threat from the three-technique.

Simmons would be a perfect fit for the Colts one-gap front, which would allow the Mississippi State product to maximize his pass-rushing talents getting upfield quickly applying pressure from the interior.

It will be interesting to see how the Colts view Simmons as a prospect. He’s certainly worth a selection following Day 1 of the draft, but it remains to be seen if they feel he’s worth that first-round pick.

Regardless, they’ve done plenty of homework on Simmons, who could wind up becoming a value in the draft.
