Colts host WR Penny Hart on top 30 visit

The Indianapolis Colts have just two weeks before the big event in the 2019 NFL Draft where many are hoping they will add some young talent and depth to the wide receiver corps.

Where they address the position remains to be seen. General manager Chris Ballard has a history of waiting to address the position, which means there are plenty of prospects to consider.

That might include Georgia State wide receiver Penny Hart, who is taking a top 30 visit with the Colts on Thursday, confirmed by Zack Hicks of Stampede Blue.

Though a bit undersized, Hart brings a lot of speed and burst out his breaks to the field. Working mostly from the slot, Hart had a strong performance at the Senior Bowl.

Here’s what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about Hart:

Smallish slot receiver who pairs good play speed with above-average quickness out of his breaks. Tape showed his lack of senior production was mostly due to inaccurate throws and that notion was backed up by strong practices during Senior Bowl week. Hart’s size and limited catch radius will require an accurate passer, but his speed and suddenness paired with his return value could make him a Day 3 draft selection.

Ballard has shown he prefers to target athletic wide receivers later in the draft that are viewed as projects with potential. It remains to be seen if Hart will be one of those players, but the Colts are doing their homework.

In 39 career games at Georgia State, Hart recorded 203 receptions for 2,960 yards and 19 touchdowns.
