Colts have ‘strong indications’ to hold training camp at Westfield

The Indianapolis Colts are awaiting the final confirmation, but it appears they have a more-than-good chance to hold training camp at the Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media Monday that the signs are pointing to the Colts returning to their typical training camp site after COVID-19 prevented them from doing so throughout the 2020 preseason.

“We’re hopeful, and strong indications that we should be good,” Reich said Monday. “We look forward to getting back up there.”

The Colts revised their offseason workout schedule for the spring. They no longer have mandatory minicamp in June and will be holding all 10 OTA sessions over the final two weeks of May.

This will give the Colts roughly two full months to prepare for training camp at Westfield and then the 17-game regular season, which is the first year the league has done so.

Reich said nothing is confirmed yet, but it seems things are falling in place for that to happen.

“We have not gotten the final, final, vote of absolute yes,” Reich said. “But it’s looking good.”

The Colts haven’t released their training camp schedule or preseason schedule, but it seems they will be heading back to Westfield after missing out in 2020.
