Colts have had some contact with QB Jordan Love

The Indianapolis Colts will be entering the quarterback market this offseason and one of the favorites to join the team is Utah State’s Jordan Love, who is hoping to improve his stock at the NFL scouting combine this week.

Speaking to reporters before workouts get underway this week, Love said he has had some contact with the Colts over the course of the offseason. That should be no surprise as the Colts will be meeting all of the quarterbacks, but this confirms interest in the prospect.

This week will be a big deal for the Colts. Not only will they get to watch Love run through the drills—something he said will do—but they will also get to meet with him officially.

That will give general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich a chance to know Love and the other prospects they meet with. One of the issues with Love’s game is his consistency. Getting him on the white board and having him go through some of his mistakes will be crucial to his stock this week.

Love said teams have been showing him his interceptions from the 2019 season and having him break them down.

There is a lot to like about Love’s game and even though there is some risk, he could be worth grabbing at the No. 13 overall pick if the Colts feel they can improve his decision-making, consistency and footwork—all of which are improvable traits.

We will see what happens on Day 1 of the 2020 NFL draft, but Love is likely going to be in the conversation leading up to the Colts’ selection.
