Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds has some interest from the Cleveland Browns as a candidate for their vacant general manager position.
As the Browns asked for permission to interview Dodds for their vacant front office role, the Colts have already granted access to the interview, which means they can get the process started.
The granting of the interview was first reported by Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
Dodds has been one of the most trusted advisors to Colts general manager Chris Ballard. Both arrived when Ballard took over the front office during the 2017 offseason, and Dodds was promoted to assistant general manager during the 2018 offseason.
Dodds brings plenty of strengths in player evaluation and has been one of the biggest reasons why the Colts have been able to add so much talented depth over a short amount of time since Ballard began stripping down the roster when he first arrived.
Dodds’ time will come as a general manager. He has a lot of popularity around the league already. Whether that will be with the Browns remains to be seen, but he will at least get interviewed for the vacant role atop their front office.
