Colts free agent DE Justin Houston had his visit with the Ravens

Indianapolis Colts free agent defensive end Justin Houston had his visit with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

It was reported last week that Houston would be making the trip and while it was initially thought to be Tuesday, the meeting wound up taking place Wednesday.

Though Houston is taking visits on the market, it seems there is still a chance he returns to the Colts. In speaking to the media Wednesday, owner and CEO Jim Irsay wouldn’t rule out a reunion between Indy and the veteran pass rusher.

Adding Houston back to the mix would be an interesting move. Though he finished the season with 8.0 sacks, he was largely inconsistent and at times was completely taken out of games. It doesn’t appear he has the ability to elevate the pass rush to another tier.

And if that’s the case, then a re-signed Houston would just be taking snaps away from the younger players who need work like Kemoko Turay and Ben Banogu, both of whom are currently the projected starters for the Colts on the edge.

Houston would still make an impact and even have a game or two with multiple sacks. He’s still a good player. But if he’s not elevating the Colts’ pass rush to another tier, would it be worth hindering the development of the younger pass rushers?

That’s the question the Colts have to answer, and it will be interesting to see where the veteran ends up playing.
